a little cheetah goes a long way.

(Helllllooo, airbrushed-skin!)

I've always been wary of animal prints...undecided on whether they were too Sex and the City or too southern-Florida-grandmother for my understated and simple wardrobe. One evening a few weeks ago, this little Target cutie snagged my attention, and after the sweet input I received on my LBD dilemma I was feeling a bit more fashion confident. So I leaped out of my comfort zone, and gave this baby a test drive while out for drinks with the girls.

Apparently this tiny shot of cheetah gave me a venti boost of confidence...I was uncharacteristically flirty with our waiter, Peter. Or maybe that was the two Tuscan Pears I drank in the matter of half an hour...regardless, my cousin thought Peter was interested. Meow.

So, I have become a tiny believer in small pieces of animal print. I mean, you won't see this girl rocking a cheetah-print Snuggie any time soon. (I already own one in blue. Two would be plain greedy.)

Your turn: Are animal prints a "do" or a "don't" in your wardrobe?

  1. The bag is adorable and such a great way to introduce that classic bit of print to your wardrobe. Good choice!

  3. I'm usually not an animal print person either...but I recently bought something in animal print. And my all time favorite was a gorgeous butterfly-print skirt I saw a woman wearing on the train one day. It wasn't butterflies; it was the wing pattern mega-sized and stunning!

  4. I am totally with you Bethany on the 'small' piece of print front. I have a couple of pieces - a bag and a pair of shoes which I use with a very plain outfit.
I am certainly not an all out there animal print lover though.
In my opinion a little goes a long way!

  5. Love it! Such a great accessory, espacially with the dress! I'm not too much into animal prints cause they easily look tacky, but you've done it right! Did you wear the nude shoes with it?

  6. Bethany,

Just a quick thank you for the enlightenment you've brought our way.
I was reading a book last night and came across chiaroscuro, because you had featured it in one of your posts I knew just what the author meant.
If you're interested it was in "The Bell Ringers" by Henry Porter.

  7. 1. you look gorgeous!

    2. cheetah is totally a DO! though, I agree, it is usually best in small quantities. like this adorable clutch or a pair of heels. because animal print can go from "meow" to "oh no" real fast. :)

  8. Animal print is always a do in my wardrobe-- but in moderation. A small clutch, a bangle or a cute pair of shoes.

I have an unnatural obsession with zebra print ;)
